Mine Rescue Training

The Rocky Mountain Mining Institute (RMMI) has proudly hosted an annual Mine Rescue Safety Training & Evaluation for the past 35 years.  Mine Rescue teams throughout the western United States participate in this event and is open to all types of rescue teams. Approximately 120 rescue participants train at the world-class West Metro Fire training facility.  This facility offers advanced training props for realistic rescue scenarios, including Hazmat, High Angle Rescue, USAR, Confined Space, SCBA Searches, and individual performance. Teams complete ten evaluated scenarios over two days, receiving constructive feedback from experienced rescue professionals and instructors. There is also a day comprised of a competition scenario along with training sessions on several rescue-related topics. There are also classes in rescuer safety, patient packaging and assessment, First Responder-level medical training, wildland fire safety, and good training practices with rescue equipment. Team members participate in these simulated emergency scenarios and classes and take back important safety information to their respective operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for any rescue team to enhance skills, network, and engage in high-quality training.  Registration for next summer’s event will open in the spring.
